Cardboard is a browser-based AI-powered video editor. You can upload video footage, edit it using plain-English AI commands or manual timeline editing, and export professional-quality videos — all from your browser.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Cardboard runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install. You just need a modern browser like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
Does Cardboard work on mobile?
Cardboard is optimized for desktop and laptop browsers. You can access it on tablets, but the full editing experience works best on a screen that is at least 13 inches wide.
Is my content secure?
Yes. Your media files are encrypted in transit and at rest. Cardboard does not use your content to train AI models. Only you and people you share a project with can access your files.
What browsers are supported?
Cardboard works best on the latest versions of Chrome and Edge. Safari and Firefox are also supported. We recommend Chrome for the best performance.
You type a plain-English instruction in the AI Chat panel (for example, “trim to the best 30 seconds” or “add captions”). The AI analyzes your video, decides what to do, and applies the edits to your timeline. You can see exactly what changed and undo anything. Learn more in How to Talk to Cardboard.
What can the AI do?
The AI can trim, split, and rearrange clips. It can create montages, add transitions, generate captions, adjust pacing, add music, apply effects, find specific moments in your footage, and much more. See How to Talk to Cardboard for examples.
Can I undo AI edits?
Yes. Every AI edit can be undone with Cmd/Ctrl + Z or by typing “Undo that” in the AI Chat. Your original media files are never modified.
Does the AI work in languages other than English?
The AI Chat currently accepts instructions in English. However, the AI can transcribe and caption videos in 20+ languages. See Auto-Generated Captions for the full list.
How accurate are AI-generated captions?
Captions are highly accurate for clear audio in supported languages. You can always review and edit captions after they are generated. Background noise or overlapping speakers may reduce accuracy.
File size limits depend on your plan — up to 1 GB on Creator and up to 5 GB on Pro. Total storage also varies by plan. See Plans & Pricing for details.
How many projects can I have?
The number of projects depends on your plan — Creator allows 5 per month, while Pro and Teams are unlimited. See Plans & Pricing for details.
Can I collaborate with others on a project?
Team collaboration is available on the Teams plan. You can invite team members, share projects, and work together. See Plans & Pricing for details.
You can export as MP4, WebM, MOV, or MKV. Resolutions range from 480p to 4K. See Formats & Quality Settings for recommendations by platform.
Can I export to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?
Yes. Cardboard can export an XML timeline that you can import into Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve for further editing. See Export Your Video for details.
How long does exporting take?
Export time depends on the video length, resolution, and complexity. A typical 2-minute 1080p video takes 30 seconds to a few minutes.
Is there a watermark on exported videos?
There is no watermark on any paid plan. Free trial exports may include a small Cardboard watermark.
